The 3412 Direct Injection (DI) head (OEM 7W2243) features a simplified deck where the fuel injector is clamped directly into the head port. The Pre-Combustion (PC) head uses a large, threaded pre-chamber cup. They are not interchangeable. Installing a DI head on a PC engine will lead to immediate piston interference and catastrophic failure. Always verify your Engine Arrangement (AR) number before installation.
Valve seat recession is the abrasive sinking of the valve into the head. In the 3412B, this manifests as reduced valve lash, “popping” in the intake, and loss of power.
