Industrial Diesel Engine Components reach their zenith in the Caterpillar C18, an 18-liter powerhouse driving the world’s largest wheel loaders and marine vessels. Ruich Value is your premier source for high-performance internal components designed to match the immense torque and continuous-duty requirements of this heavy-industrial engine.
This forged steel crankshaft, referencing OEM 222-3236, is engineered for the Caterpillar C18 ACERT engine. To cope with outputs often exceeding 800HP and extreme marine duty cycles, our crankshafts are manufactured from premium micro-alloyed steel with deep fillet hardening. This ensures exceptional resistance to the high-amplitude torsional vibrations characteristic of long-stroke engines. Whether you are powering a remote genset or a 988H wheel loader in a quarry, our C18 crankshaft restores the uncompromising reliability expected from Caterpillar’s top-tier machinery.
| Part Name | Engine Crankshaft |
| Primary OEM Number | 222-3236 |
| Cross Reference | 260-0677 / 246-2658 |
| Engine Application | Caterpillar C18 ACERT (18.1L) |
| Material Standard | Heavy Duty Forged Steel |
| Stroke Specification | Long Stroke (vs. C15 Standard) |
Technician’s Note: The C18’s massive displacement creates significant torsional vibration. When installing a new 222-3236 crankshaft, it is absolutely critical to inspect or replace the viscous vibration damper. A failed damper is the primary cause of snapped crankshafts in C18 marine and genset applications due to unchecked harmonic resonance.

A: No. Although the C15 and C18 share the same cylinder block bore, the C18 achieves its larger 18.1L displacement through a longer crankshaft stroke (183mm) compared to the C15 (171mm). The crankshafts are physically different and not interchangeable.
A: Our aftermarket C18 crankshafts are manufactured to meet or exceed OEM dimensional and material specifications suitable for marine use. However, for vessels requiring specific class certification (like ABS or Lloyd’s), please consult our technical team regarding available documentation.
A: Converting an older 3406 or C15 block to C18 specs (“stroking it”) requires extensive modifications including pistons, rods, and clearance machining. While the 222-3236 crankshaft is the core component for this, it is a complex custom build recommended only for expert engine builders.
Customized/billet crankshaft development based on drawings or samples is also possible.
