Technician’s Note: The C18 uses a spacer plate design similar to the C15. Before installing the 223-7263 head, you must meticulously clean the block deck and spacer plate. Any debris or fretting under the spacer plate will lead to immediate head gasket failure. We also recommend using new high-tensile head bolts, as the torque specifications for the C18 are extremely high.

They are very similar and often share the same casting numbers (like 223-7263). The C18 is essentially a stroked version of the C15 with a larger displacement. In many aftermarket applications, the 223-7263 head is listed as compatible for both C18 and late-model C15 ACERT engines. Always verify your specific engine serial number.
