Technician’s Note: The C9 HEUI system is extremely sensitive to oil quality. Before installing the 387-9433 injector, check the engine oil for fuel dilution (thinning). If the old injectors failed due to O-ring failure, fuel may have contaminated the oil sump. You must change the engine oil and filter immediately after installation. Also, verify the actuation pressure from the IAP sensor/HPOP; low rail pressure will cause the new injectors to misfire.

A: No. The Caterpillar C9 engine platform has two distinct fuel systems: HEUI (Hydraulic) and Common Rail (Fuel Pressure). Part 387-9433 is for the HEUI system (typically C9 ACERT in D-series excavators). It will not fit or function in C9.3 Common Rail engines (E/F-series). Please check if your engine has a high-pressure oil pump (HEUI) or a fuel pump (Common Rail).
