Technician’s Note: The 6CT engine uses a gear-driven camshaft. When installing the 3924471, you must inspect the front gear train for backlash. A worn idler gear can transmit vibration to the camshaft, causing premature bearing failure. Also, verify the condition of the tappets (3931623); reuse of old tappets on a new camshaft will void the warranty and rapidly destroy the lobe surface.
