The most frequent failure is cracking between the intake and exhaust valves (valve bridge cracking). This is caused by the extreme thermal cycling and high cylinder pressures of Common Rail engines. Our replacement 4941496 head uses improved casting alloys and thicker bridge sections to prevent this issue.
