Quick Summary: Mitsubishi 4D56 / Hyundai D4BA Camshaft

Looking for a reliable replacement for a worn-out 2.5L valvetrain? This premium camshaft (OEM: MD137163 / 24110-42200) is manufactured from chilled cast iron to permanently cure cam lobe scoring and valvetrain clatter. It provides exact drop-in fitment for 8-valve Mitsubishi L200/Pajero and Hyundai H100/Starex fleets. In stock for immediate Global export solutions.

Restoring SOHC Power to the 2.5L Diesel Platform

The 2.5-liter 8-valve diesel engine—globally recognized as the Mitsubishi 4D56 and its licensed Hyundai equivalent, the D4BA/D4BB—is the beating heart of millions of light commercial vehicles. From the rugged L200 Triton pickup to the indispensable Hyundai H100 delivery van, this engine is prized for its mechanical simplicity. However, its Single Over Head Cam (SOHC) valvetrain utilizes a slider-rocker design that is highly sensitive to oil quality. In commercial logistics fleets, extended oil change intervals allow abrasive soot from the mechanical injection system to build up. This turns the engine oil into a grinding compound that rapidly erodes the original camshaft lobes, leading to loud valvetrain clatter, decreased valve lift, and severe loss of engine performance.

Ruich Value has engineered the MD137163 aftermarket camshaft to decisively combat these harsh lubrication environments. Instead of standard iron, we utilize high-strength chilled cast iron (nodular iron), a superior metallurgy explicitly developed for high-friction sliding contacts. Every cam lobe and bearing journal is subjected to precision high-frequency induction hardening, achieving an impenetrable HRC 45-55 surface hardness. By CNC-grinding each lobe to exact factory OEM lift profiles, our camshafts perfectly restore valve timing and engine breathing, ensuring your Mitsubishi and Hyundai commercial fleets return to peak operational efficiency.

The Ruich Value Advantage for 4D56/D4BA Valvetrains

  • Soot & Friction Defense: Chilled cast iron metallurgy paired with HRC 45-55 induction hardening fiercely resists the abrasive lobe scoring caused by soot-contaminated diesel oil.
  • Restored Engine Power: Precision CNC grinding ensures an exact OEM base circle and maximum valve lift, restoring lost compression and eliminating sluggish performance.
  • Perfect Journal Clearance: Camshaft bearing journals are polished to a micron-level Ra finish, ensuring rapid oil pressure buildup in the cylinder head to prevent cold-start wear.
  • Fracture Immunity: Rigorous Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) guarantees that our camshafts are free of subsurface micro-cracks, ensuring they withstand immense valvetrain stress.
  • Expert Rebuilder Advice: A worn camshaft will destroy new rocker arms, and old rocker arms will rapidly destroy a new camshaft. You MUST replace all rocker arms and manually adjust valve lash when installing this MD137163 cam.

Technical Q&A: Mitsubishi 4D56 / Hyundai D4BA Camshaft

Why do the cam lobes wear down so quickly on the Hyundai H100 and Mitsubishi L200?

This is a lubrication failure issue unique to SOHC slider-rocker designs. Mechanical diesel injection creates a high volume of soot that bypasses the piston rings and enters the oil. If oil change intervals are neglected (common in commercial fleets), this soot turns the oil into an abrasive paste. Since the rocker arms slide directly against the cam lobes, the friction rapidly grinds down the lobe profiles. Strict 5,000km oil changes and our induction-hardened lobes are the best defense.

Are the MD137163 (Mitsubishi) and 24110-42200 (Hyundai) the exact same camshaft?

Yes. Hyundai licensed the 4D56 engine architecture from Mitsubishi to create their D4BA, D4BB, and D4BH series. The 8-valve SOHC cylinder head and valvetrain components, including this specific camshaft profile, are physically identical and provide a perfect drop-in fit for both brands.

Can I install this camshaft without replacing my old rocker arms?

Absolutely not. Mating a brand-new camshaft to worn, scored rocker arm pads will cause the new cam lobes to wear out in a matter of weeks. They wear together as a matched pair. You must install a complete set of brand-new rocker arms and correctly set the valve clearances (lash) during installation.

Will this camshaft fit the newer 16-valve 4D56U engine?

No. The MD137163 is strictly for the older 8-valve Indirect Injection (IDI) engines. The newer 16-valve Common-Rail (DI-D) 4D56U engine features dual camshafts (DOHC) or a vastly different valvetrain geometry and requires entirely different OEM part numbers (such as 1005A116 or similar).

How is this precision component packaged for Export-grade crating export?

To protect the precision-machined lobes and journals, every camshaft is coated in a robust anti-rust compound, sealed in a moisture-blocking VCI poly bag, and packaged in a reinforced protective cylinder. Bulk wholesale orders are securely crated in export-grade wood to guarantee zero transit damage.
